How Dog Age Calculation Works
The old "multiply by 7" rule is a myth. Dogs age rapidly in their first two years, then slow down — and larger breeds age faster than smaller ones. Our calculator uses the following formula, aligned with current veterinary research:
- 📍 Year 1: = 15 human years (all sizes)
- 📍 Year 2: = 9 additional human years (24 total)
- 📍 Year 3+: Small breeds +4/yr · Medium +5/yr · Large +6/yr · Giant +7/yr
