How the Cat Age Formula Works
Cats age rapidly in their first two years, then at a slower, steadier pace. Here's the formula we use:
- 📍 Year 1: = 15 human years
- 📍 Year 2: = 9 additional years (24 total)
- 📍 Year 3+: = 4 human years per cat year
| Cat Age | Human Equivalent | Life Stage |
|---|---|---|
| 1 year | 15 human years | Kitten |
| 2 years | 24 human years | Young Adult |
| 4 years | 32 human years | Young Adult |
| 6 years | 40 human years | Young Adult |
| 8 years | 48 human years | Mature |
| 10 years | 56 human years | Senior |
| 12 years | 64 human years | Senior |
| 14 years | 72 human years | Super Senior |
| 16 years | 80 human years | Super Senior |
| 18 years | 88 human years | Super Senior |
Cat Life Stages
Kitten · 0–1 year
Rapid growth and exploration. Needs kitten-formula food (3–4 meals/day), vaccines, and early socialization.
Young Adult · 1–6 years
Active, healthy, and full of energy. Transition to adult food. Annual vet checkups.
Mature · 7–10 years
Metabolism begins to slow. Watch weight, start semi-annual vet visits, consider senior-formula food.
Senior · 11–14 years
More rest, possible joint stiffness. Bi-annual bloodwork recommended. Prioritize joint-support nutrition.
Super Senior · 15+ years
Requires extra care and monitoring. Keep warm, offer easy-to-chew food, and schedule frequent vet visits.
